  • Hand cream
  • Glitter
  • Sink or large bucket
  • Paper towels
  • Soap
  • Water
  • A helper

  1. While many of the targets for this goal focus on preventing diseases and ensuring quality healthcare for all, it is important to also think about ways we can protect our own health and consider the importance of mental health and well-being
  2. Put a small amount of hand cream on your hand and rub your hands together ensuring that the hand cream is spread evenly over the hands
  3. Get someone in your household to help you with the next step
  4. Move over to the sink, and ask the person with you to put a pinch of glitter in the palm of your hand The glitter represents a disease or germs which can be spread by touching hands
  5. Now make a fist with your hand that has the glitter in and then spread your fingers wide apart
  6. What do you see?
  7. Next, put both your hands together
  8. What do you notice about your hands?
  9. Now shake hands with your helper
  10. Now do you see anything on it?
  11. Get a piece of kitchen towel and use it to wipe your hands clean of all the glitter
  12. Is it working?
  13. After using the paper towel, try using soap and water to wash your hands
  14. Did the glitter come off?
  15. Now wash and dry your hands
  16. Discuss how easily germs can spread
